DesktopShortcut

Should a cadwork shortcut be created on the desktop?

  • TRUE
    The shortcut is created.
  • FALSE

  • TRUE
    The update is offline, according to the contents of the update folder.
  • FALSE
    The update is online according to the cadwork server. The update folder will be supplemented as needed with newer or missing files.

SkipInstallation

    Example of installation of Version 2025 with cwsetup.exe V2025:

    • V28 and earlier versions are uninstalled.
  • FALSE
    All versions remain on the computer.

[DIRECTORIES] Target directories

This section allows you to define the locations of the different folders. Paths must be in "" to be recognized correctly.
For more information about target folders, please refer to the Installation section at Target directories.
The default value is noted under the path description.

TargetDir

This is the path to the program folder. The default value is:
TargetDir="C:\Program Files\cadwork.dir"

UpdateDir

Path to the folder where the installers for updates are downloaded before being executed.
UpdateDir="C:\Users\Public\Documents\cadwork\update"

Userprofil

Path to the userprofil folder (template files, shop drawing layouts, various settings etc.).
Userprofil="C:\Users\Public\Documents\cadwork\userprofil_2025"

CadworkCat

Path to the folder for user-specific catalogs.
CadworkCat="C:\Users\Public\Documents\cadwork\cadwork.cat"

[CATALOGS] Catalogs

Selected

Should cadwork catalogs be installed?
This will depend on whether it is a workstation that only views files or if it is intended be used to work with the license.

  • ALL
    All catalogs, userprofil_2025 and cadworkprofil_2025 will be installed.
  • NONE
    Neither the catalogs, nor userprofil_2025 nor cadworkprofil_2025 will be installed.

ConvertUserprofil

Should the 3D and 3DC files in userprofil and catalog_3d be converted to the new database format?
It is highly recommended to do so. Converting the files in userprofil will move the items to the new database. This will reduce access times to files when inserting or using them.

  • TRUE
    The converter is started and will scan the 3D catalog folder as well as userprofil for 3D and 3DC files to convert them to the new database. This speeds up access times when opening and inserting files.
  • FALSE
    Files will not be converted to the new version. This must be done manually for each file or automatic conversion can be run later as described in the Catalog conversion chapter.

Important:
Correct entry of the client number and language is required to install the corresponding catalogs and userprofil.

Example

A first silent installation with a file server and several client work stations/computers may look like this.

File server - provides update files

The file server can be either a Windows server or a regular computer that places the files in a shared folder on the company network.
To ensure that all files required for a first installation are available, the cadwork offline installation provides a complete update folder. It is also possible to use an existing installation.
To download the ZIP file for the cadwork offline setup, go to this page.

Creating the update folder using the offline cwsetup

The offline setup creates a new update folder under the default path:
"C:\Users\Public\Documents\cadwork"
With the following subfolders:

  • CAT
    cadwork catalogs and userprofil
  • EXE
    cadwork modules
  • SETUP
    cadwork CWSetup and Windows prerequisites

To allow other users on the network to access the files, the update folder must be shared via Windows file sharing.
The unattended.ini file is copied to the C:\Users\Public\Documents\cadwork\update\SETUP folder and adapted as needed.

Work station (Offline mode)

On the work station(s), the installation is started via the network share by running the cwsetup.exe file using a script or manually.

start-cwsetup-with-unattended-ini-en.png
Start the offline installation by double-clicking the CWSetup.exe file or using a script.

The installer runs in the background and is not visible to the user. The installation is complete when the cadwork shortcut appears on the desktop.
If the shortcut is disabled, simply check in the task manager if cwsetup.exe is still running.

In addition to the selection in cwsetup.exe itself, the offline installation is also activated if the cwsetup.exe file is started directly from the SETUP subfolder in the Update folder. The installers to be executed are considered exclusively from the EXE and CAT folders relative to the launched cwsetup.exe.
This allows installation from an external data medium or a network share without internet access and is used by the Offline Setup. You can also copy the entire Update folder from an existing installation to a USB stick and start the installation from there.
