5.2.1 BCF Manager BIMcollab V2025
Since Version 2025, cadwork has been using the BCF Manager from BIMcollab. An account with BIMcollab is required to use all BCF Manager functionalities. With this account, BCF files can be synchronized via the cloud and managed on the platform.
However, it is also possible to use the BCF exchange offline and exchange the file by email, for example.
Important:
The BIM Manager module must be part of your purchased cadwork software package in order to use the BCF Manager. Please contact your responsible support branch for more info.
Starting the BCF Manager
The BCF Manager can be accessed via → .
Note:
The first time you start it, you will be asked to log in. If a BIMcollab account is linked to the e-mail address entered, you can log in directly. If this is not the case, the registration process follows. Once completed, the BCF Manager window opens.

BCF Manager menu overview
The most important functions of the BCF Manager are described below. You can search for specific topics in the BIMcollab Help Center.

Overview Issue Area.
1 Create new offline project
2 Import BCF file. The most recently opened files are available as a quick selection via dropdowns.
3 Export BCF file. Only available as an offline project!
4 Synchronization with BIMcollab project. The most recently opened projects are available as a quick selection via dropdowns.
5 Synchronization of the issues. Not possible with an offline project!
6 IDS function. Not available in cadwork 3d!
7 Switch between thumbnail preview and list display of issues.
8 Edit existing issue. An issue must be activated for this.
9 Create new issue
10 Access to the settings. The language for the BCF Manager can also be set here.
Important:
This BCF Manager is a "Software Development Kit" from BIMcollab. It is only possible to link the existing functions with the functions of cadwork. The language of the manager cannot be linked to the language from 3d!
Issue area
In the issue area, You can customize the display of the issues or work with a filter. As soon as an issue is active, its information can be viewed or commented using the comment functions.

3 Depending on what is activated in the BCF Manager, different commands are displayed here.
4 Window with the description of the issue. The status of the issue can be changed in the lower area.
5 Viewpoint of the issue. If the view, visible and active elements are specified when the viewpoint is created, this information can be called up by double-clicking.
6 Person responsible. This can also be adjusted here.
7 Comment on the issue. An image can also be attached. The source of the image can be determined using the drop-down menu. The image is attached or can be selected via the camera icon. Depending on the settings in the drop-down menu.
Comment area
Specific comments can also be activated and their information accessed in the comments area. As soon as a comment is active, we see various buttons with the following functions in the upper area:

1 Add viewpoint.
2 Edit viewpoint. To do this, open the image in Paint to edit it. When Paint is closed, the edited image is automatically saved in the viewpoint.
3 Delete viewpoint.
4 Zoom on the viewpoint.
Important:
The user can use the dropdown to control how the viewpoint is to be recalled.
"Quick" only calls up orientation and zoom without saved visibility (All visible elements when calling up viewport stay visible)!
"Full" calls up orientation and zoom including saved visibility (Resulting in displaying only elements from viewport)!
5 Call up the viewpoint information.
6 Display a large view of the viewpoint.
7 Set viewpoint as default. The corresponding active viewpoint is set for all comments on the active issue.
8 Switch between comment view and detailed view for the active issue.
Create or edit issue
As soon as you create an issue or edit an existing one, the following dialog opens with various options:

1 Issue with title and description.
2 Select label if defined by the BIM Manager.
3 Assignment to person, area, milestone or type of issue. A deadline can also be set and the priority can be defined. If the BCF exchange takes place via synchronization, the entries available for selection can be predefined by the BIM manager. You are more flexible with an offline project.
Important:
In order to ensure successful cooperation, all parties involved must agree and adhere to the defined processes!
4 Add additional information using comments.
5 Viewpoint with the options to replace it, open it for editing in Paint or remove it.
6 Define which elements are to be displayed when the viewpoint is called up: visible, active or none respectively the entire model.
7 Add persons who should receive a notification.
Note:
The active elements are always saved and reactivated when a viewpoint is called up.
